What is Northward?
Expanded overviewNorthward is an open-world co-op adventure about sailing a scrappy ship through a northern archipelago, exploring the uncharted, finding lost treasure, and uncovering the mystery of a fallen star.
Sail Together
Sailing a ship requires teamwork and coordination. Who is at the helm? Who is aligning the sails with the wind? Who is below deck, shoveling coal into the engine or studying the map?
Climb & Dive
Across 4 different biomes, climb the highest peaks and dive into the deepest oceans with the help of useful equipment and the cooperation of your friends. Manage your stamina and temperature as you avoid dangerous obstacles and creatures.
Survive
Collect and cook food to stave off hunger and thirst, and find appropriate clothing for the temperature. If you don’t take care of yourself you will not have enough stamina to explore the world around you.
Uncover a Mystery
Meet curious characters, explore forgotten locations and delve into ancient ruins to solve a mystery about a fallen star.
Collect
There are many things to collect in the world: whether it be a nice new hat, a fancy table for your ship, another book for your shelf or a new recruit for your crew.

Made by Yore & Yonder
Studio backgroundNorthward began in 2021 when Marcus Karåker and Filip Bergqvist compared a long list of possible game ideas and eventually landed on one idea that stuck out: a multiplayer sailing exploration game with fishing, discovery, and a mystery-twist. What started as evenings and weekends gradually grew into a long-term studio project, and in 2026 Yore & Yonder was founded.
